Customized all-in-one solution – process technology for liquid products

UHT system in individual design

Quality, safety and efficiency – these are the parameters, that have priority at all modules of a process plant. That also applies to an UHT process (Ultra High Temperature = ultra-high-temperature processing). This process is used to sterilize neutral or little acid products like milk and milk products, soups, sauces, soy products as well as preparations and culture media. Depending on the product features, this thermal product treatment has to be individually designed. The level and duration of the heating are the key factors of this process. At the UHT process the products are heated to a very high temperature in a short time and are hold on a temperature of 130 – 150 °C for a defined, usually very short period. This method devitalizes all germs and the product is sterile.

Direct or indirect UHT heating

with direct steam or heating exchanger

UHT plants are heating the product either directly or indirectly. At the direct heating, steam is inserted into the product. At the following vaporization, the injected steam gets evaporated and the product is cooled down very quickly. This way the quality of the product is little affected. For products that are less temperature sensitive, like sugar- or brine solutions, the injection of steam is not useful. The same applies for products with ingredients that are more volatile than steam, like products including flavors or alcohol. For this product groups the indirect heating with a heat exchanger is used. With both processes, the direct steam injection and the indirect method, we achieve sterile products with a long conservation period. The systems can also be combined.

UHT plants with maximum flexibility

and a great product variation

Ruland realizes UHT plants that offer a great flexibility for the customer regarding the processed products. The same system can be used for different temperature areas: UHT-heating (sterilization) and short-time-heating (pasteurisation). The plants are also able to provide a high spectrum of flow capacity and can be designed for flexible use: with a high flow-rate for thin viscous products or with a low flow-rate for thick viscous products. As Ruland designs all plants individually, all components of the ultra-high heating plant can be choosen according to the URS (User Requirement specification) of the customer. The size of the modules is customized to the requirements in space, especially if the UHT plant has to be embedded in an existing plant and the design is not as flexible as for new production equipment.

Ruland process technology

Next to the sterilization of products with UHT plants, heating, pasteurizing– and filtration plants, Ruland is also constructing further process systems for product preparation and preparation for filling. Also available are tank-systems for raw goods and storage, mixing systems for dosage and mixing, pigging plants, CIP and cleaning as well as vaporization plants, CIP-plants (Cleaning in Place) as well as fermenters, reactors and special installations. While constructing the plants we are based on the guideline of EHEDG (European Hygienic Engineering and Design Group), we take care of a good accessibility as well as a high operator friendliness and easy servicing. Our systems for automation, visualization and for the integration into ERP-settings are the completion of our process engineering solution and plant-concepts.

Virtual plant design

Our virtual plant design at the booth is worth seeing. Ruland starts a detailed planning at an early phase of engineering: Flow diagrams, 2D- and 3D-desings are forming the basis of our work. Let us go one step further!

About maintenance and repairs

presentation on 21.03.2018, 1:30 pm

The presentation from Michael Als about „Predictive Maintenance – Clairvoyant for process plants“ (in English) is interesting for sure. You are able to listen to it on 21.03.2018 at 13:30 at the “Forum Ressourceneffizienz” (forum resource efficiency) from DLG, Hall 4.2, A9. Do you need new ideas for your concepts regarding preventive maintenance and repairs? Please talk to our Service Manager, Mathias Nauerth, at our booth.
